Kyle of Lochalsh Healthcare Centre

Kyle Medical Practice is based in Kyle of Lochalsh and offers essential medical services to the Lochalsh district of Wester Ross. Located adjacent to the railway station the medical centre is village based but provides extended and specialist NHS services to the community it serves.

The building was a new build on a brown field site close to the main railway line which require close cooperation with Network Rail.

The building house not only GP facilities but dental and specialist and visiting clinics in a purpose built surrounding with modern and airy rooms. The accommodation is located over three floor with the third floor providing office accommodation. Not only can the accommodation be accessed from the main village and trunk road level but at the lowest level under building car park.

FLN were involved from feasibility study through design and tendering to construction, completion and handover. FLN were the Building Services engineers for the all the mechanical and electrical installation including the main incoming services in the tricky site location.

Main services were located in an open under building car park and distributed to the building through vertical services routes. Ventilation was located in the roof voids and discharged through sympathetic roof terminals.
